Are you an experienced leader in the construction industry, ready to take on new challenges? A reputable municipal department in Milwaukee is seeking a Construction Superintendent to oversee construction projects from start to finish. This role is critical in ensuring the successful performance of assigned projects and guiding field crews to achieve project goals.

The Construction Superintendent will report to the Vice President of Construction and collaborate closely with the assigned Project Manager. You’ll be responsible for managing physical construction activities, ensuring cost control, and driving the project towards on-time completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize cost control methods for assigned construction projects.
  • Develop and implement both master and short-term schedules for project timelines.
  • Monitor construction work to ensure quality, compliance with drawings, and adherence to specifications.
  • Implement all field and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide required documentation for project management and ensure compliance with governmental safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with project management personnel and subcontractors to create a strong, positive team dynamic.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, and subcontractors to resolve field issues and maintain smooth construction activities.
  • Provide guidance and create a positive work environment for subcontractors to ensure project success.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED) required. Degree in Construction Management preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience as a Construction Superintendent in the construction industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in build-out construction preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of primary and specialty trade services performed on a general contractor project.
  • Proficiency in using computers, smartphones, tablets, and software related to construction management.
  • Strong logical thinking skills to follow procedures and instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information.
  • Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret numerical data for reporting purposes.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner.
